to HeatSync Labs
Hi Everyone,
We are planning to be moving to Alabama in the next year. We have property there and are building a home.

There are a few things that I do for the lab that someone may consider taking over. My last act will be to shut down anything like stores or systems someone hasn't taken over.

pisignage screens
The two screens at the front of the lab are run by a raspberry pi OS. I have been maintaining them remotely. Perfect opportunity for rebranding the lab.

Ebay sales

Craigslist page

Facebook Marketplace:
Arnob is setting up the page so I can move to it from my personal stuff.

Sales of excess materials/donations yields about $400/month to the lab general fund.

Machine Shop Champion
Certification/ Machine repairs and improvements
I currently have $1627 in instructor funds/fees slated for the lab.
Monies have been allocated for DRO's, Belts, Blades, Sandpaper, drill indexes and provides consumables to portions of the lab.

Drill bits
I have been sorting and sharpening drill bits with my own equipment.

Hardware
Kept hardware from getting out of control and sorting.

Screen Printing Champion
I have been the champion for this area... I'm sure someone else can. do a much better job.

Let me know if there is something you are interested in. I'll help anyway I can.

I have had a lot of fun helping HeatSync labs over the last 6 years (almost 4 as Champion) and wish everyone the best.

Best regards,
Darrell

Dude, thank you for all you have done for the lab <3 Your absence will be felt. I appreciate you for coming up with a transition plan. I didn't even know you were sharpening the drill bits and all the other stuff mentioned, thats the kind of amazing invisible work I wish we were all more aware of and celebrated more regularly.

No doubt the community will step to the plate to take on the responsibilities you've shouldered.

I know its some time out and we will still see you until then, but I hope Alabama treats you well and you find a hackerspace out there that will welcome and appreciate you as I know they will.

HeatSyncers are for life, so know that you'll always be welcome here.

Hi Darrell,

Thank you for your significant contributions to the lab over the years. I wish you the best with your move to Alabama and building your new home.

I am interested in helping over the Machine Shop. While I currently lack specific experience, I am committed to learning.

Please let me know if a call would be beneficial to discuss details, I don't want to commit to something I don't really know the scope of.

Best regards,

Rafael Karosuo

we should have the lab buy a drill dr. I've used it before and have one in a box
somewhere :-/

what hardware are you talking about here?

I've done a little screenprinting in the past. I missed one screenprinting
meetup and haven't seen another scheduled to learn our equipment.

Hi Darrell,

You have been an extraordinary force for HSL for years. In your direct
contributions, your positive mental attitude, and the way you always
exhibit the best characteristics of do-ocracy.

Many of the best things about HSL can be traced to the time and energy
you contributed to it.

I hope your future in Alabama is filled with happines!

Hi, Darrell,

As others have said, thank you for all you've done for the lab, and thanks for making a smooth transition!

I've been doing a lot to improve the front windows, and would like to be the point person for handling this.

Really, I probably wouldn't change much about the content. (You've done a great job and it's practically perfect as is!) I'd keep the same style (and keep the calendar front-and-center). I'd just make sure we have our most recent photos in there (e.g. the contents of our "2025 Photos" album in Google Photos), plus maybe add some content from our social media feeds. Blurbs about upcoming events, what the lab is, what facilities we offer, etc.

Target audience would be those new to the lab and who are unfamiliar with how we work.

Let me know, and thanks!

Darrell, thank you for everything you have done!

I do not think we have any single tool capable of measuring the impact you have had on this community and HeatSync Labs in general.

I wish you the best in your future endeavors and make sure you take time to enjoy everything you are building for your family and yourself!

Thank you all or y'all as they say in Bama for the kind words. I have a lot of faith in the HSL community to live long and prosper 🖖
