Hey folks!

I just donated $50, and Deanna from "Staying Alive" (she just taught a first aid class at HeatSync) just donated $75 for a total of $125 to update our first aid capabilities. Looking through the current first aid box, which sits across from the machine shop, a lot of stuff is expired but do we really worry about expired Tylenol when we actually don't have any capability of stopping a "heavy bleed"? Heaven forbid someone gets a deep cut in the machine shop and we have to keep an artery from bleeding out for the several minutes it takes first responders to be contacted then arrive....

So Deanna is going to take the $125 and get us some prioritized "heavy bleed" materials to accentuate our current first aid gear. When it comes in, I'd suggest all the volunteers who hold HeatSync open (like during public hours) acquaint themselves with the new first aid equipment.  I'll let you know when it arrives.

PS - We will probably see if anyone from HeatSync wants to take First Aid class maybe late November / Early December. We'll try and pull together a class that focuses on injuries that could be unique to HeatSync. Please let me know if you'd be interested.

I'm up for a first aid class as well.
Thanks for your support Deanna and Sherman

Hey folks!

I am guessing no one wants, nor would worry, if we didn't hold HeatSync open to the public on Christmas Eve?

Cheers,

Yeah, Heatsync will be open the entire weekend before from Friday at 10am to early Monday morning . . . over 60 hours! The public has more than enough time to get their projects done.

Sherman I already had removed that. Maybe I should remove the Monday too since I'll have family visiting.

Why is there discussion about the Lab being open on Christmas Eve in the First Aid thread?

Come on guys, please check the thread you are posting to.  This is how information/discussion is lost, by posting cross-topic items in the wrong discussion thread.

That was my fault. I took an older thread I had started months ago in regards to a proposed first aid /CPR class, gave the email a clean title and removed all the old text, and assumed it would NOT be associated with the old discussion. Silly me. I still am not sure why that didn't work unless I either (i) missed something in the body or (ii) there was some metadata in the email header I was not aware of.

Since we are here in the First Aid thread, and since I was the one who facilitated getting a CPR/first aid class recently at HeatSync, I'll let ya'll know Diana is still planing on making a donation to help us purchase some "heavy bleed" first aid gear, which we do not have.

Ohh, lots of the other first aid stuff we *do* have is pretty old; probably functional but old. We may want to look into that in 2025.

Cheers,

-- Sherman
