Cynthia meets and exceeds all requirements including but not limited to paying into HSL before the pandemic, a member in good standing, took on being the subject matter expert champion in jewelry and has meeting as well as classes often with the community focus aspect first and foremost. I am not able to say enough great things about Cynthia, though for my one nomination per year this is it, she is the text book example for the HSL community to hold in high regard. At least I do, thank you for taking a moment to read my brief post. I will put a few statements I have seen her personally excel with:
  • Approachability – Cynthia makes it easy for anyone to ask a question without feeling awkward or small.

  • Active Listening – When someone talks, Cynthia makes them feel genuinely heard and understood.

  • Inclusivity – Cynthia naturally makes people feel like they belong in the space.

  • Patience – Cynthia never rushes learning, no matter how basic the question.

  • Generosity With Knowledge – Cynthia shares what she knows freely and without ego.

  • Encouragement – Cynthia consistently lifts others up and celebrates progress.

  • Calm Presence – Even when things go wrong, Cynthia steadies the room.

  • Humility – Despite her skill, Cynthia never acts above anyone else.

  • Respect for All Skill Levels – Beginners and experts receive the same respect from Cynthia.

  • Empathy – Cynthia recognizes frustration and responds with understanding.

  • Safety Mindset – Cynthia looks out for people first, always.

  • Clear Communication – Cynthia explains things in ways that actually make sense.

  • Mentorship Spirit – Cynthia guides others toward confidence, not dependence.

  • Reliability – Cynthia is someone you can count on to follow through.

  • Welcoming Energy – Newcomers immediately feel more comfortable because of Cynthia.

  • Problem-Solving Attitude – Cynthia approaches challenges with β€œwe’ll figure it out.”

  • Collaboration – Cynthia makes projects better by working with others.

  • Non-Judgment – Cynthia creates a space where mistakes feel safe.

  • Respect for Shared Space – Tools, materials, and areas are treated with care by Cynthia.

  • Consistency – Cynthia shows up as the same supportive person every time.

  • Adaptability – Cynthia adjusts smoothly when plans or priorities change.

  • Constructive Feedback – Cynthia helps people improve without discouraging them.

  • Boundary Awareness – Cynthia knows when to step in and when to step back.

  • Time Awareness – Cynthia respects shared resources and others’ time.

  • Credit-Giving – Cynthia makes sure others receive recognition for their ideas.

  • Emotional Intelligence – Cynthia reads the room and responds thoughtfully.

  • Leadership by Example – Cynthia models the behavior she hopes to see.

  • Conflict De-Escalation – Cynthia quietly prevents tension from becoming problems.

  • Enthusiasm for Making – Cynthia’s excitement reminds people why they love being there.

  • Curiosity About Others’ Work – Cynthia takes real interest in what people are building.

  • Self-Awareness – Cynthia understands how her words and actions affect others.

  • Playfulness – Cynthia keeps the space fun and creative, not rigid.

  • Respect for Learning Curves – Cynthia normalizes not knowing yet.

  • Trustworthiness – People feel safe asking Cynthia for help or advice.

  • Ownership Mentality – Cynthia cares about the space as if it were her own.

  • Positive Influence – The room feels better when Cynthia is present.

  • Growth-Oriented Mindset – Cynthia is always learning and improving herself.

  • Community Stewardship – Cynthia actively protects the culture of the makerspace.

  • Role Model Presence – Others naturally look to Cynthia as an example.

  • Embodiment of the Space’s Values – Cynthia represents the best of what the community stands for.

My request is for the call to action to be: help me support Cynthia.
    Please and Thank you.
    :)

Ditto to all that. I've known Cynthia for a long time, and when I saw she was getting involved with the lab, I had a cognitive moment. "Of course she's working with HeatSync. She's always been there, right? Right?"

Perfect fit for the lab. Give her all the accesses πŸ˜‚

I don't have nearly the tenure of the people who have already spoken up, but I strongly agree with this nomination.

Cynthia has already demonstrated the will and the skill to get new people in the door with her jewelry maker meetups. It's in the lab's best interest to empower her to do more!
