I’m totally with Silver Lining on this. The EPA did not say that climate change is a hoax and did not say that geoengineering is unnecessary or would be ineffective at cooling the planet. What it did do is to take a small step toward giving geoengineering the all-important public visibility that is the essential first step toward eventual public acceptance. This is probably the best they could do without bringing the wrath of MAGA down on their heads. With the honorable exception of Andrew Yang, I don’t know of anyone with high political ambitions who has publicly gone much further than this.
To calibrate the EPA statement, in California there are so many commonplace substances labeled as potential cancer risks that you would have to abandon civilization and go live in the wilderness if you took them seriously. Even this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of good intentions gone awry. So even the roughest approximation to a reasonable statement on environmental hazards is a gift to be treasured.

Yeah, well... TACO.
The Big Ugly Bill's reconciliation vastly reduced the pay on IRS
45, but this won't last long. Trillions in revenue for the elites
are at stake and over 200, 1 million ton per year removal units
have been committed under 45Q. i.e. Trillions of $$$ to trump's
favorite people in industry, from his least favorite people, the
American public.
Engineered cooling solutions will see the same fate only
amplified. Once rump learns that he can both, give trillions of US
citizen's $$$ to his favorite industrial elites, and at the same
time guarantee the continued burning of fossil fuels, TACO will
happen.
IRS45Q will revert very rapidly with millions of $$$ of lobbyists
undoubtedly already on the move. Engineered cooling may take a wee
bit longer, but the concept of giving vast amounts of taxpayer
money to the elites and fossil fuel industrial complex will rule.
(Important! IRS45Q has no pay limit either individually or
cumulatively, or at least it did, and this will undoubtedly be
restored.)
IMPORTANT - This is an extremely rare and fortuitous moment for
humanity. In a counterintuitive concept bigger than the known
universe, this environmental hater anti-science devil can do what
liberals have failed to do. We need to capitalize. Citizens
Climate Lobby has their DC lobby week next week and one of their
wheels is my Sierra Club Climate Change Committee cochair with the
Austin Group and chair of Lone Star's Chapter ExCom and he is on
board.
It's time we start talking seriously to Republicans about their quest to continue burning fossil fuels and then being paid to clean up their historic climate pollution. This is the standard operating procedure of our advanced culture that is responsible for our population increasing from 1 to 8 billion and life expectancy increasing from 35 to 73 years globally:
Pollution create by humanity via products or services that
benefit humanity, in almost all instances is not eliminated by
eliminating the process(es) that produce the products or
services. In this respect, climate pollution is no different
from almost any other pollution. It should therefore be treated
like almost all other pollution so we can be safe, not be
eliminating its source.
One concept about removals that is vastly overlooked is that of
using natural gas to fuel the process. To the producer, like with
Oxy in the Permian Basin whose 500 MT removal unit is literally
scheduled to come on line any day now and is 125 times larger than
the largest removal facility in the world (Orca in Iceland),
natural gas energy is literally almost free. Because energy costs
are 87% of process costs, this lowers the cost of removal and
disposal to the lower tens of dollars per ton, with about a 10
percent carbon penalty where Oxy simply upsizes their process a
small amount to account for the extra carbon emitted.
When mined CO2 costs $40 to $60 per ton, and Oxy is committed to atmospheric removals to not only supply their enhanced oil recovery but to create their share of trillions of $$ in revenue from 45Q's direct sequestration incentive, it is clear that removal is not the vastly expensive thing postulated by science and the popular press's interpretation of this rapidly advancing pollution treatment industry.
Engineered cooling solutions are literally no different. Anything
that allows the fossil fuel industrial complex to avoid loss of
sunk costs and creates vast revenues, is a thing that is going to
happen sooner or later. Our job is to ensure that it happens soon
enough and fast enough along with engineered cooling solutions, to
restore our climate in time to avoid the point of no return of
tipping elements.

I looked at the link and did not find where you got the statement “the EPA administrator [expressed] his opposition on behalf of the Trump administration to geoengineering. The Administrator talks about how the Trump administration is alarmed by Geo engineering and will stop efforts to scale it up.”
The release states “"EPA shares the significant reservations many Americans have when it comes to geoengineering activities,” added Administrator Zeldin.”
Is that what you meant? Reservations are not alarm or opposition. I remain of the view that significant commercial interests such as insurance and agriculture can be encouraged to lobby Trump through his Energy Secretary Chris Wright to support higher albedo. Marjorie Taylor Greene does not speak for the whole Administration.
Alan Kerstein mentioned in another thread the Streisand Effect of efforts to suppress publicity backfiring by prompting wider interest. That is exactly the likely result of the MTG idiocy. Wider interest will enable HPAC to gain a wider audience.

If you look at the statement of the EPA administrator below you will see not surprisingly his opposition on behalf of the Trump administration to geoengineering. The Administrator talks about how the Trump administration is alarmed by Geo engineering and will stop efforts to scale it up.
I don’t know how much more evidence is needed to convince those who somehow have the fantasy that Donald Trump will come in and rescue the Climate through supporting direct cooling that exactly the opposite policy is being applied.
If there is any even small silver lining to the information released it is that the chemtrails conspiracy is debunked.
The NGO Silver Lining to my astonishment released a statement praising the EPA Administrator for the release of this information notwithstanding that the short section on Geo engineering only highlighted the potential risks and not the benefits.
For one of the leading funders and advocates for SRM research in the United States and the world to praise EPA, its administrator Lee Zeldin and this statement is truly beyond belief.
In addition to its position on Geo engineering the EPA is in the process of being decimated with planned firings of over 1000 scientists, the promotion of fossil fuels and radical deregulation of programs to protect our water air and land.
