Hi,

This may be of interest, just posted:

Could Four Billion People Die at 3°C?

The claim that four billion people could die in a 3°C warmer world has become a powerful climate narrative. But what does the science actually support, and where does evidence end and speculation begin?

A lot of numbers get bandied about. We should understand their genesis.

Hi David,

In your piece you write:

"On current warming trends of 0.3-0.35°C/decade, the world will hit 3°C around 50 years from now, perhaps earlier, in part because there is little prospect of a rapid decline in fossil fuel emissions."

The science from climate scientists, when they say that emissions reduction could prevent 3C, is completely bogus.  Only cooling intervention can prevent 3C.

Their reputations would be at stake if cooling intervention were actually deployed.  So they have moved heaven and earth, rather successfully, to debunk SRM.

They have invented the "moral hazard" argument that SRM is a distraction from emissions reduction, when the actual hazard for the world is not to deploy SRM soon enough.

And they have produced models (falsely) showing that the global temperature would fall if emissions could be drastically reduced, knowing that this won't happen.  So they are setting themselves up for failure: to be able to blame the fossil fuel industry for climate catastrophe, while preserving their own reputations.

They know that if SRM deployment is delayed long enough, it will be too late.  And that will vindicate their strategy.

David, we have to expose this nonsense.

But must remain positive with hope: planetary restoration is feasible.  Refreezing the Arctic is a prerequisite.  Only SAI can do this.  There is little to fear: research suggests SAI could prove extraordinarily benign.

Cheers, John
