Dear all,

I am currently involved in a psychological experiment focused on decision-making processes, and I am considering using the HDDM for my data analysis. I would like to ensure that this method is suitable for the experimental design we are implementing.

In our experiment, the first screen presents the information required for making a decision for 4 seconds. Afterward, participants proceed to a second screen where they are required to make their decision. My specific question is whether it would be appropriate to use HDDM to model the reaction times recorded on the second screen.

Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your valuable feedback.

This would not be a great application of the DDM (whether HDDM or any other way to estimate it), because participants likely form their decision within the first four seconds and thus the RT (which is needed to infer DDM parameters) on the second screen will not be informative of the decision process but just a simple RT that may not vary across levels of choice difficulty.

Dear Dr. Frank,

Thank you for your suggestions. I agree with your assessment. Although I attempted to use the RT from the second screen to estimate HDDM, the results were as expected. I realize that I may need to adjust my process and consider other methods for more accurate estimation.

Best regards.

Leo
