Hi All,
Chris Mayer and I have been collaborating using the Jetson development boards. We thought that it is time to get back to normality and have actual physical meet-ups again.
The focus on this meetup would be the using the Jetson in your robot and would include things like:

1.  First setup. (flashing the drive, camera , audio in/out setup.
2.  Servo Control (I2C PCA9685)
3.  Object recognition
4.  Speech command recognition
...

I would be happy to host the meetups at my place in Milpitas.
Covid Vaccine proof is required. Masks are optional.

Maybe we could call the meetup "Meet, Gorge Jetson"

Thanks everyone.....Daniel Albert

I'm also interested and also vaxxed to the max and ready for hacks
(There's a slightly more salty version of this saying floating around here in SF, but I'll spare you : ) )
I have a Nano on my rover Tenacity and also a TX1 here collecting some dust that I'd like to get onto another carrier board.

Hello Dan and Chris,
Any chance you can open up a Zoom window on this meet-up? Nothing high maintenance... just to let us hang out, listen, and pose questions.

Thanks,
Camp

I’d also be interested in a separate discussion about Isaac. I haven’t looked into it much yet.

Hello all,
I really liked the GTC presentations of Isaac and Omniverse. I think the collaborative possibilities of Omniverse point to a future where all of us on the list could be potentially contributing to one Sim environment for instance. For drones / wings, I'm curious how Isaac compares to Microsoft Airsim which sits on top of Unreal I believe.
Cheers,

I've set the time: 2021/06/22 @ 3:00 - 10:PM Pacific.

I'll have some food and beverage but you are welcome to bring snacks.
Like I said before, you must have proof of Covid-19 vaccine.
Here is the address:

4827 Marsh Rd.
Milpitas 95035

This is a builder's meet up for Jetson AI at the Edge.
It's not a tutorial but hands on collaboration with people that have experience.
Bring a Jetson. I have some extra monitors. Bring a mouse and keyboard or headless setup.
If you happen to have Isaac and Omniverse loaded and working please bring it along and give a ten minute demo.

We will try to have the meeting online too but unless someone wants to commentate instead of build, there will be one-way audio only.

Really interested in this in person meetings and working with the NVIDIA Jetson. Any idea about when it will start?

Thanks

For all: Directions to meeting. Getting here is really easy. Follow GPS until Marsh Rd.
Once on Marsh Rd the GPS signal is incorrect. The first and only driveway on your right.
There will be a sign...Go slow, no more than a 1/4 mile on Marsh Rd.
We have three Jetson so far. A TX2 a Nano and an NX.

Hey! Sorry I'm late to the discussion. I can't come Tuesdays, but I'd really like to start working with people on my new Jetson.

I could also host something from SF proper (where I live), potentially on Sundays?

Perhaps someone can log into the SIG this evening and give us the low-down on this meet-up.  :-)

Thanks,
Camp

On Wed, Jun 23, 2021 at 3:42 PM, Chris Mayer
The first meeting was pretty good!  We will be doing this every month at the same time - Tuesdays the day before the online SIG meetings. We will announce the time as the day gets closer, but the day will be Tuesday July 20th.

3 people showed up IRL, and half a dozen or so on Zoom.

Dan got some audio hardware and software working.
I got camera data working, and live speech recognition working.
Charles got a demo working that detects common objects in real time from his camera.

In case it's useful, I wrote a PCA9685 driver for ROS1:
https://github.com/dheera/ros-pwm-pca9685
I'll be adding ROS2 support for it likely in the next week or so.

This info was gleaned from Paul McWhorter's series on YouTube, but lesson 1 is 90 minutes, and my notes below cover all the good stuff.
I have notes on all the other lessons up to #11 so far as well, and most can be skipped to get to the meat.

Chris, Daniel, thanks for you help last night discussing
the Jetson Nano. Initial set up of the Nano was painless
once I realized I'd downloaded the 4GB image and not the
2GB Linux image.

Per your directions, installing and running Picovoice took
about 20 minutes and worked the first time I tried it.
https://picovoice.ai/docs/quick-start/picovoice-jetson/

I'm looking forward to next month's meeting where I might
try to train picovoice with my own vocabulary / training
set.

thanks
Bob Smith
