Some of you may be aware that Alan Federman, Ross Lunan, Phil McCary, Thomas Messerschmidt, and I are writing a book about building "Mock" TurtleBots. We're building them with plain Roombas, Botvacs, and the Create3 plus various lidars and cameras.
This evening, I got my third MockBOT, Smarty3, running. My other two, Smarty1 and Smarty2, are based on the Botvac and Create3 Platforms.
Smarty3 is a Roomba 600, connected to a Raspberry Pi 5 via a 5V USB-to-TTL cable soldered to a 7-pin subminiature DIN plug, and equipped with a DL06 lidar (the package includes a base_laser to base_link transform). I'm using the AutonomyLab/create_robot GitHub:
