Hi All,

We are finalising hazelcast as our distributed cache solution. We are planning to use hazelcast as L2 cache provider with hibernate and to monitor its cache data on centralised server, we are planning to use management center which is limited to 2 nodes only.

Can any one from hazelcast community confirm, if we can use management center for two nodes only in our production environment.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Sharad Keer

Hi Sharad

I think that shouldn't be a problem. You only need a license if you have more than two nodes. There doesn't seem to be a distinction between production vs developer environment.

Hi schaard keer,

From Documentation:
Here, you can either choose to connect to a cluster without providing a license key or to enter your license key. If you choose to continue without a license, Management Center still continues to function but you will only be able to monitor up to 2 members of your cluster.

Shared Keer,

Sorry, me and Emre misinformed you. I have tried your scenario at my local. Management Center does not work with cluster is bigger than 2-node cluster and gives an error
"Node Limit Exceeded...".

We will update our documentation according to current behavior.

Thanks.

Hello All,

We are planning to use Open Source version of Hazelcast for our Production deployment, also planning to use Hazelcast Management center open source version in PROD. If this was the case are we allowed to use the Management center with 2 limited nodes?

Please clarify

Thanks
Naga

Hi ynagakumar,

Management center does not work with cluster that has more than 2 members. If you have a 3 or more node cluster, Management Center will give "Node Limit Exceeded..." error at dashboard.

Hey Sharad,

What Hasan was about to say, yes it is ok to use it for 2 nodes in production, however it is strongly discouraged to do this. A cluster should have at least 3 or 4 nodes, so the 2 node for free version is mainly to get an idea of Management Center during development but you should have more nodes in production. Remember if you have 2 nodes only and you loose one node, you won’t have any failover / high-availability anymore!
