Recommendations for local solicitor? Ferguson Bricknell closed down by SRA.

Dear Friends and Neighbours,

I have just heard that our solicitors, the local firm Ferguson Bricknell, was closed down by the SRA, the Solicitors Regulation Authority, in December 2024. We have not been directly contacted about this, which surprised me. But now we need to find new solicitors.

So, I was wondering if any of you knew of a good local firm that we might switch to? We can look at the list on the acting law firm's website of course, but I would prefer it if the one we choose is also personally recommended.

According to the SRA: 'Ferguson Bricknell can no longer act for its clients. If you were a client, you will need to find a new solicitor. You can find a list of solicitors in England and Wales on the Law Society’s website.'

I've used Bower & Bailey in Summertown for the past five years. (In Barclay House, a few doors beyond the coffee shop on the corner of South Parade.) Perfectly OK for routine stuff such as making a will; haven't needed them to do anything more complicated than that, so can't vouch for their usefulness in matters such as divorce or criminal cases.*
