What’s the event happening on Feb 8? Anyone going?

That's the "second sunday" walk at Wavecrest (Half Moon Bay). 

I'm planning to go. 

Easy walk (entirely flat), potentially good birds (Kites!).

Hi everyone,

Who sponsors the "second sunday" walk?

I was just south of Half Moon Bay a few days ago at Point Año Nuevo to observe the elephant seals and saw many Harriers and a few Kestrels.

Attached is a photo of a male Harrier. I am wondering why it was just standing on the ground; it didn't appear to be injured, didn't have any prey, and was definitely not fearful of the group.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Dates: February 8 and March 8, 2026
Wavecrest Reserve Open Space  (can use “321 Wavecrest Rd, Half Moon Bay” in your map app)

No registration required. Just show up at the Wavecrest Open Space trailhead parking lot by 9 am for a pre-
trip introduction.
