Building stack on NixOS

I'm going through the instructions at https://docs.haskellstack.org/en/stable/install_and_upgrade/#nixos for installing the latest stack on NixOS. I get the following error:

$ nix-env -i -f shell.nix 

error: `f' at /home/marc/work/stack/shell.nix:7:7 called without required argument `store', at /nix/store/s3y3395483770a23ggxpaci7ia9xvwb6-nixos-16.03.1299.a8e0739/nixos/lib/customisation.nix:56:12

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
