Update on RPMS Modernization Project from MBSK Colorado

Greetings Hardhat Community - 

I wanted to share an update with the group on My Brother's and Sister's Keeper Colorado's work to modernize RPMS for use by our organization and community partners over the past five months.

We are modernizing FOIA-RPMS on YottaDB and wrapping it in a full enterprise-style stack for community organizations: behavioral health agencies, schools, outreach programs, and similar providers that serve youth, families, and communities. The clinical and operational truth still lives in RPMS (FileMan, routines, RPC Broker/BMX)—not in a separate app database. On top of that, we run ASP.NET middleware (REST APIs, auth, integrations) and Engage Horizon, a modern desktop client with contemporary UX for scheduling, charting, billing, HR, student information, outreach, and reporting. The goal is not to discard VistA/RPMS semantics but to make them usable for non–VA/IHS community orgs that need one system for care, programs, and operations without classic green-screen workflows.

Engage Platform is the operating system for community-based providers: intake and longitudinal records, behavioral health and social care, program enrollment, court-ordered and community service tracking, fundraising and engagement, facilities, billing, HR, and analytics—aligned with equity- and life-course–oriented service models. Each customer organization gets a dedicated RPMS instance (silo isolation); the platform is built for real-world community operations, not only inpatient or federal-tribal clinic patterns. We are heading toward a June 2026 pilot with multiple org installs, prioritizing Engage Care and Engage Outreach as the first production-ready products, with the broader module set exercisable as the platform matures.

Here are some screenshots of some of my work so far. I still have quite a bit of development work ahead of me, but we are just about finished with the Care Module, which is based on the RPMS Mental health app with th RPMS registration and scheduling app as well.  I hope to share more with the community soon. My leadership team and Board of Trustees, in conjunction with General Counsel, are evaluating various licensing and SaaS models for the platform and expect to make a decision in June.
