New YouTube on Mumps History

Hi All,

As many of you know I have been at this for 4 decades but this video popped up today on YouTube and it is excellent on Mumps historical foundations.  This video is very well done and if you haven't seen it is worth watching.

This is one of the best historical descriptions I have ever seen of the earliest days of Mumps, much further back than when VA started to use it.

9 years I spent with CHCS ultimately MUMPS. Mike O'Callahan Federal Medical Center. I was fired shortly after Cerner won the contract back in 2017 I think it was. I love the mumps system...it was like a brother or sister to me. I was the only one at that facility who could merge patients, build new clinics, interface it with military expense, understood the medical coding and billing, pharmacy formulary issues etc. Highly involved with data quality team and making sure she stayed clean.  Thank you for the video, made me cry, but I'm glad others out there too that had a bond with it like I did.  

Oracle, maybe they are good maybe not. MUMPS wasn't anywhere near a point for me to entertain a replacement.  Anyways, hope all is good, this actually made my day. 👽

This is extraordinarily good.  Every MUMPSter, and especially the former MUMPSters (like Ernesto Ritacca) should see this. 

 

I got involved in MUMPS when Neil Pappalardo gave me 'the manual' to take home and I learned MUMPS over a weekend in the summer of 1969.  I never heard the history of 1962-64, the 'pathological liar' story.

The only correction I'd make is that the VA wasn't founded until 1930 (OK, THAT was before my time!). Abraham Lincoln provided its motto ahead of time in his Second Inaugural.
