Hi,
I need to retrieve data from Firebird 2.5. I tested the use of isql as an external program, saving the result in a file and then parsing the file but I'd like to integrate a proper direct connection.

Does anybody use Firebird ?

I see that sqlrdd supports Firebird, I'd like to use the "last" version, is there a fork that is more "updated" ?

Thanks
Francesco

Hi

Are you aware of the <hbfbird> contrib? Its a thin wrapper with the native FirebirdSQL client (fbclient.dll).

I use it in a small project: a utility with basic needs (customized queries, minor data updates, etc.). Main database management is handled by another program written in Delphi. I use only the PRG functions API (FbConnect(), FbQuery(), etc) but do not use the classes (TFbServer, TFbQuery, etc.).

I think it will be a good choice for your needs.

Best regards,

It is not only a good choice, but a PERFECT choice !

I just need to perform a SELECT statement on a Firebird table...

I should only find a way to not have the program crash when fbclient.dll is not present on the workstation, so I may have the same executable for everyone..

Thank you
Francesco
