What is the definition of the acronym HAPI?
Is it Health Application Programming Interface?

It's historical. First, there was HAPI v2 for HL7v2 work. Then, attention was turned to HL7v4 (FHIR) and "FHIR" was added.

Addendum: The HL7v3 member of this progression is Model-driven Health Tools or MDHT which does for CDA/CCD/etc. what HAPI FHIR does for FHIR.

Just to add to that, technically HAPI stands for "HL7 API". Simple as that. :)

A few key dates in the HAPI history are listed here, in case you're curious: https://hapifhir.io/hapi-history.html

Cheers,
James

And then there's the .NET version of HAPI (for V2) called NHAPI!!

I also use online acronym lookup websites to find things like this.   There are some that are healthcare specific and others with acronyms from many domains.

There's this (seems to be mostly for clinical terms):   https://www.hanys.org/search/?action=terms

but neither of these have HAPI --- that must be SAD. (poor pun)
