I would love to start a handbell choir in our rural area of TN.  I would have to purchase bells out of pocket and cant invest thousands to start a choir.  Can anyone advise me where to find more reasonable but nice bells to begin a choir?

My recommendation is always Al Paul. My personal set, a friend's personal set, my community group's duplicate set, and a former church's duplicate set have all come from him and have been amazing quality. His prices are super reasonable too. He is an Authorized Refurbishment Center for Schulmerich, so all of his used sets are essentially getting a newly factory refurbished set.

Mary, start by contacting the Handbell Musicians of America.  Most of the areas have a chime loan program that would help you get started.  Here's a link to the program in Area 6, which includes Tennessee.  Hope this helps.

 Mary,

I sell used bells in Fredericksburg, Virginia and Brian's suggestion of Al Paul is excellent.  His work is fabulous and he is an authorized Schulmerich refurbisher.

I do not currently have any complete sets of bells for sale, but I was contacted by someone at a school in New Jersey and they are trying to sell a 4 year old set of Schulmerich bells with the tables.  He says that it is 3 Octaves and that they have never been used.  Contact info below.  You will need to reach out to him directly for a price.  This may not be the budget set you are trying to find.  I have asked him for some pictures.
Happy Ringing!
