Hello HamSCI - We will be holding an informal HamSCIence 'net' this week, Thursday, 4 December, at 2100UTC (Zoom details below).  We don't have a specific agenda, just an open forum for HamSCI-related thoughts, questions and observations.

Our next formal presentation will be February 12, when Dr. Terry Griffin, Professor and Cropping Systems Economist will be speaking on 'Space Weather Impacts to Precision Farming'.  Some may have heard of the 'dancing tractors' problem arising during the May, 2024 extreme, G5-level Gannon geomagnetic storm (see the SpaceWeather.com website).

December? Sorry, group, I obviously got the month wrong. Perhaps 'Cut & Paste' should be reframed as "Cut, Paste, Edit'.

One thing we might discuss this afternoon is the recent geomagnetic storm, as noted here by David, N1HAC a few days ago.  I took a look at my legacy Grape 1 plots of the past few days, and I found this one,  from 4 days ago, with what appears to be a sudden, very short term positive Doppler shift at ~1730 UTC followed by an hour's worth of very poor reception of 10MHz WWV (roughly 1800-1900 UTC), at my home near Cleveland, OH.

Does anyone else see this in their plots?  (I'm hoping this wasn't an instrumentation problem.) - 73 de Gary, AF8A

OK, Gary,

Just to be thorough, could you please re-state all: Month, day of month, time, & time zone.

Thanks,

Dana

My 10 MHz plot for that day looks the same except with lower amplitudes:
