Dear HamSCI,

First of all, I want to thank you for your support in bringing our learners in the NRAO Ham Radio Project to your Workshops for the last 2.5 years. Thank you!

Because of the Anti-DEI Executive Order and budget issues at the NSF and ultimately the NRAO, 30 May will be my last day on the project. "Elections have consequences", as NRAO Director Dr. Tony Beasley has said.

I'm working with the instructional design team to prepare the NRAO Spectrum Explorer's Club Game I described during the last HamSCI workshop for release on SuperKnova(TM). Watch https://superknova.org/ham-radio for updates.

After 30 May, you may reach me here and on any of the following additional "channels":

Let's continue our collaboration!

Dear Jesse,

I am very saddened to hear about your departure from the Ham Radio project under these circumstances. I want you to know that I have been greatly inspired by your work and am so impressed by your kind-heartedness, selflessness, skill in teaching, inspiring others, and bringing people together.

I do believe that we at HamSCI and the greater amateur radio community will be able to continue to work with you and support your endeavors.

I look forward to talking with you more soon, both here and hopefully on the air!

Hi Jesse,

I am sad to hear about the situation with the project. I still remember our first Zoom call when you introduced me to the ham radio community and pointed me to resources to help me prepare for my license. That simple act of mentorship opened up the world of ham radio and its community in the U.S. for me, and I’m deeply grateful for it. (I’m sorry I’ve been a terrible student—I still haven’t obtained my license yet! But your encouragement stays with me, and I haven’t given up.)

I hope you know how meaningful your work has been. Your passion for education, outreach, and the ham radio community continues to inspire.

Wishing you all the best in the next chapter.

Best regards,
Kukkai

LOL I took a picture of my badge before packing it up to ship back to NRAO HQ. How lucky it is to have a company badge with Ham Radio on it? Grateful for the opportunity.

Hi Jesse,

I'll add my voice to those here who are definitely sad about this outcome.  I hope you can remain connected to the community and that we can continue to collaborate individually and collectively - there is much yet to do, and your work is a great example of what is possible if we remain synchronized.

See you on the other connection types -
