Hi, the last day of the "School Club Roundup" is today… if anyone would like to QSO with the Rice U Ham Club (W5YG), we will be on from 3:30 - 5pm CDT today.
Lately 20m is open but we have a lot of QRM; 40m has less noise for us but there seem to be fewer using that band.
Anyway, if anyone wants to try for an on-air contact, send me a time and frequency.  You can email here or text or call my cel phone:  281-660-9107.
We have an inverted V on the roof (4th floor).

Hi Pat,

Our club will only be on the air today from about 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm EDT.  I am helping a High School club here in New Jersey (W2MSR), and I have been setting up an EFHW outside of the School Cafeteria every day this week for them to operate.  Unfortunately, the solar panels on the school roof give me an S9 Noise level on 40 and below... so 7 MHz is totally unworkable for us, but we have had some success on 20, 15, and 10 when it is open.

We have had some success getting set up on a frequency and calling CQ SCR, but if we go too long without any contact, we'll do some hunting. If someone is around at your station around that time would love to hear from you.

This is our first full year as a club, so hopefully in the future we can get a permanent station set up in the school (right now, I am just bringing my equipment to the school for the kids to operate).

Thanks,

Randy

Hello Randy,

The Virginia Tech station (K4KDJ) has been making quite a run this week (it was fun nabbing Kuwait this morning on 10m!) and would also be good to take contacts.  They’ll be on this afternoon, likely calling on 20m.

Sure I can try to get on then…  I know it’s boring to sit and call CQ but a lot of schools are doing so… I’ve gotten six schools so far, but yeah starting earlier is probably better for schools in the east!
