Dalhousie is having a snow day today, and some people are away, so I assume no club today?

Nhi and Arthur,

I set your messages to auto-approve.  So they'll go straight through from now on.  I should probably review the full list of members and set auto-approve those I recognize.  (By default, all messages are moderated, and I was on my way out of Halifax when you sent yours.)

Also, if someone else wants to be added as an admin to the google group, feel free to volunteer.  I'd be happy to pass the torch.  Doesn't take much, but it does mean you get the Spam & Real Messages.  Not a ton of spam, though, fortunately.

I am wondering if we should move to other platform for better and quicker club communications (eg discord which we used in Go Camp, or MeetUp for scheduling),  but I volunteer to be an additional admin.

Also an heads-up that I’m planning to organize a local casual in-person league with cash rewards (I raised $1400/year past years for Halifax Open and Canadian Open, which won’t be here this year), maybe a few weeks per season, one or two seasons this year, hoping 12-16 or so players would come often enough to qualify for the prize (which I definitely know we have that number ). I am trying to encourage the participations but have a few pain points:
1.a solid venue to host the matches. Math building is good but the access has always been a challenge to me.
2. Participation. Hope the rewards can motivate people to come and play.
3. Logistics and misc. Boards and stones and details.

Heard Dal community center (?) can resolve 1,3. Will probably need to talk to David/Theodore/Veronika in person. More details later.

Open to suggestions!

Re -- communications.  Email is best for me by far.  These other apps come and go, and I tend not to depend on them over years.  But I fully appreciate I've done a poor job of staying on top of converting people over to "trusted" senders.  That's been the only real hiccup.  That's on me.  I'm not likely to install yet more ways of communication on my phone... it's distracting enough already.

Concerning permissions... You're a group owner now... With great power...

Thanks for the help!  Another venue is the downtown library which the Halifax Go School used for an informal Go competition once before.  I vaguely remember it being free or, at least, reasonably priced.  That was a few years back.
