Hi all,
I want to remove the supers from both the HHBS hive and my own personal hives, so that I can start my fall mite treatments. I really have no place to store them, so I plan to extract next weekend, weather permitting. I will probably have about 30 frames total (10 HHBS, 20 personal)
I could make this into a HHBS workshop. This could also be a convenient opportunity for anyone else who may have a few frames to extract.
Thoughts?

Jillian,
Here is what I produced so far. Feel free to edit further before posting. I just picked 2pm arbitrarily. Is this the best time for everyone?
Will be good to see you and Yvon at least. Anyone else coming?

Honey extraction workshop

We will be extracting several frames from the HHBS hive. Bring your own clean, 250 ml jars (e.g., Mason jars, but clean jam jars are also fine) if you want a bit of the honey to taste and share with your family. Also be prepared for a bit of a work out since the extractors are hand cranked. We will likely go over alternative methods of decapping (e.g., scratching, heat gun, etc.)
This could also be an opportunity for people who just have a few frames of their own to extract. (Using an extractor is only efficient with at least about a dozen frames to do at a time.) Again, bring your own bottles if you plan to extract your own honey.
The event will be held rain or shine, since we can hide from the elements in the garage.

I have not received any feed back, so I will post the notice below on the Facebook page. I will be adding a sentence saying that newcomers are welcome to see and taste the honey harvest and to meet with other beekeepers.
Yesterday I pick up the old extractor from Yvon, who says that he will try to make the workshop. Today, I spent the morning rinsing the extractor again and then assembling it. As always, it was difficult to fit the cradle on the spindle, but I finally did it. It now spins well and will be ready for the weekend. I have also reserved the newer extractor for the workshop. I will judge responses from the online posts on how many people are coming and extracting and whether the second extractor will be needed. I have not, however, ever used that extractor, so I am hoping that Jillian and perhaps others with experience will be coming also.
Anything missing? I have my own de-capping scratcher but could use another. Does the HHBS have one kept with the new extractor?

I also have my own screens and 5 gal collection bucket, but do I remember the Society also having some of this equipment. I could particularly appreciate a decapping station.

Sehne,
I have been informed by Jillian Ruhl, that you are now in possession of the Halifax Honey Bee Society’s extractor and perhaps associated equipment.
The Society is holding its Extraction Workshop this weekend. Can I pick it up from you in the next 1-2 days?
I see that you did not complete the spreadsheet, so I do not know your address or further contact information, apart from the email address that you provided to Jillian. Please let me know when and where the extractor is for pick up.
Roger
Sehne,
Thanks for the quick reply.
Also, I was preparing myself for having to drive to some far flung place to pick it up. That is great that it is in Kingswood. We can figure out an exchange either Fri eve or sometime Sat.
Do you only have the extractor? I am also trying to track down any associated equipment, like a decapping tray, but do not know whether the Society even has any of these things anymore.
Thanks again,
Roger

I am in Kingswood and would gladly drop it off at Rouen court. I can do that as early as Friday evening.
