Hey guys,

A bothersome glitch due to Android 12 (which is a major bother in general)

I had not used Hackers since long before I was "upgraded" to twelve until yesterday ago, then, when I needed it and switched, the notification shown in the attached screenshot below appeared on the notification and could not be removed and remained when I switched back to my default keyboard.

The "Settings" button shown in the screenshot does not work.  It seems to register when tapped, but does nothing.  There is no apparent way to remove the Hacker notification from the notification screen.

I was finally able to remove the notification by going to "all apps" opening "Hacker" selecting "Settings" and going through guesses in the options until the keyboard icon finally disappeared from the notification bar... it was not evident to me from the settings descriptions which setting was responsible.

Also, since this never came up in any previous os version, I suspect that os 12 toggled the notification setting on when the apps were manipulated during the upgrade.

Hope this info is of value,
Beverly Howard

This is odd, thanks for the warning. The setting controlling this notification is "Input mode settings / Use permanent notification", this is supposed to default to off. It's a rarely-used option that some people had requested for use cases where apps can be keyboard-controlled but don't have an input field.

I'm also running Android 12 and it didn't switch itself on for me, so it doesn't seem to be happening for everyone.

Thanks for the response.

I think the main thing is for you to turn it on and then see how it behaves on Android 12 for you.

The one thing you should really check would be the button on the notification screen which does not appear to work at all on Android 12.

Another thing that might be of interest to you is that Android 12 has additional buttons below the notification screens where apps can post toggles such as turning this feature on and off and the users can move these where they want within the button arrangement.

For what it's worth I have found that the ability to toggle the hackers on and off where no soft keyboard would be presented to be very valuable in the past.
