Best alternative for LONGVARCHAR

to H2 Database

I am upgrading a database from H2 1.4.197 to 2.1.210. Many of my tables used LONGVARCHAR. What is the best replacement for that in 2.0?

I cannot use CLOB since those columns have indexes. Also, is there any workaround to add indexes on CLOBS?
