manufacture, and it has a complete history, I know the name of every owner and every place it lived. It rides very well and is a keeper, well, it was a once in a lifetime purchase really. here's a photo of it, if I manage to upload it. Cheers, Adam.

Hi, my name's Adam, some of you may know me already. I had hankered after a Sport 15 for many years after riding one 17 years ago. Anyway, last year I finally found the one I wanted - unrestored and unmessed with. 1933 is the year of manufacture, and it has a complete history, I know the name of every owner and every place it lived. It rides very well and is a keeper, well, it was a once in a lifetime purchase really. here's a photo of it, if I manage to upload it. Cheers, Adam.

Nice bike, what is the little cap at the end of the silencer with holes in it for? It has a cable attached ?

It is a cap with holes for quieting the exhaust noise.
I have one on my 1938 GTC/L which operates via cable and lever.
It knocks 10dB off the exhaust sound .
In my case it drops from 110dB to 100dB which I have measured.

Yep, the old Harleys had a similar device. They called it the town/country diverter or something to that effect.

That's a town and country silencer.
Cap in town, no cap in the country.
Common on old motorcycles

Perfecto!
The "Town & Country" exhaust baffle was a feature that was found on more than a few of the motorcycles from that period. We could all benefit if the straight pipe Harley guys took a page from that book.
