I have an NGK plug in now. Received a replacement plug, a Bosch W145T2 which I plan on installing tomorrow. Are there any plug recommendation from members? Bike ran well today with choke lever settling on it's own parallel to handlebar. Noticed pipe was bluing up by engine. Believe NGK in there now is BR7ES. Thanks. Frank

Some bluing is normal. If it seems excessive it usually indicates a lean mixture. If it was happening while just idling, try adjusting the pilot screw for the best idle and go 1/8 turn richer. Having to run with the choke partially closed is also a sign of leaness. The choke should be able to go full open within a few minutes.

Which Lodola are we talking about ?  After much research here in the U.K. the recommended NGK plug for both is slightly different

Then that would be an NGK B7ES.  My mate uses that in his 235 and she runs nicely with that

If you look at the lodola manuals on rpw.it you will see that the175 uses magneti marelli CW250 ( equiv NGK B7HS) and the 235 uses CW225 (equiv B6HS)
Both are 12.7mm reach.
Doesn't anyone bother to read the manuals before asking the question??

For ref a B7ES has a 19mm reach.
I suppose the person who uses a B7ES is lucky that it doesn't get whacked by the piston.

Actually there is confusion in the Lodola 175 manuals. Both the ‘Instructions for use and maintenance’ manual and the Manual per le Operazioni manual state Marelli CW 225G; whilst the User Maintenance manual for a 175 sport states CW 250 B.  So I guess that is why I know people who use both B6HS and B7HS plugs.  I tend to stick with the Marelli CW 225 equivalent.   Just see which your bike likes best is my advice

It partly depends where you ride.  NGK B7HS was the recommended grade for Ducati 450 and the 750 twins.  But I rode both models in town regularly and the plug insulators turned slate or black coloured and failed inevitably.  Even in 1976 when I had my first 750 I couldn’t use them long if riding in London before the bike got hard to start. The plug grade was “hard” or also called “cold”  chosen by the maker to ensure it didn’t overheat and melt the piston on autoroute, freeway, or motorway.  But traffic is slower now so  It doesn’t mean the grade suits modern traffic jams. I use and used hotter BP6 grade for mixed riding. I’d never ride an  Italian or Brit bike without clean plugs and a spanner in my kit.

Dellortos are very crude instruments and do over-fuel especially the pumper versions.

Hondas and BMWs are much more precisely carburetted and in my experience they use BP 7 grade plugs of   equivalents reliably and you don’t ever have to look at the plugs between services.
