GTS exhaust valve assembly

Embarrassing question. My GTS exhaust valve doesn't have this bit fitted but I have a spare from a previous bike. Problem is, I can't remember how it fits! Can someone help please? Thanks

Thanks Turbo Man🙂. I realised after thinking for a while, that I'd had a senior moment. The S engine has a single hairspring hence it doesn't use that piece. The original builder had done a less than perfect job and I was being a bit paranoid. I have an original spares book for the S and strangely, it is listed in there though.

Gents, routinely amazed at the volume and quality of the great info that you share!  I’d appreciate your suggestions on the best plug(s) for my 1956 Falcone Sport, 1954 Airone Sport and 1963 Lodola 235 GT.  I have also discovered that the spark plug cap on my Falcone has a chunk broken off of the back side.  It doesn’t seem to affect the running but I would like to replace it.  I’m prepared to replace the entire wire but would like to avoid the shipping/duty issues of using Retro.   Any domestic (US) solutions. Thanks

I personally don't do well on tests ,,,, but you should be able to buy spark plug wire from most auto parts stores who carry it in bulk and get an NGK cap.

I  think. You have to be careful with NGK. Marco at Guzzi Retro  took out the NGK plug from my Falcone and put in a Magneto Morelli plug when the bike was running rough, the difference was remarkable

 I think the NGK plug had a resistor in it which should be avoided. That goes for the cap as well. Also use copper wire

Yep, never use a resistor cap AND an R code plug, better still use neither, and dont forget the plug gap needs to be smaller for magneto powered plugs, 20-25 thou IIRC. 

I have an NGK [not R coded] in the Airone, seems fine. 

Google AI says NGK lead is good, best of luck finding it….

Hi All,

I have become a fan of "Brisk" sparkplugs

They are still manufactured with "glazed" inside insulators so they are far more resistant to fouling or oiling up. Starting and running is much improved.

They are available from F2 motorcycles in UK.

I got them from "Schrem" racing parts in Germany as I am EU based.

There are loads of fake NGK plugs in the UK and I suspect, everywhere else. Its the one item I always buy from my local bike shop, hopefully he's buying the real thing!

NGK does make non-resister caps and you still can get copper core wire to make your own wires. Most vintage car parts suppliers have it and you can even get colored sheath wire for the more vintage look if you shop around.

At least in the US and Australia, NGK, now Niterra, no longer produce non-resistor plugs. Many are still being sold but there are a lot of counterfeits. I called the US office a few years ago and confirmed they dropped the standard plugs. The conversation came up again with a friend in OZ so I checked their websibe ad they no longer list non-resistor plugs. Different marketing zones may have their own production operations so you should probably check the NGK/Niterra website in your zone to confirm. If you still see them listed on the official site, let us know.

On line and at auto jumbles over here. There  is a horrendous video on YouTube somewhere of one of the Chinese factories, the working conditions are abysmal. The first thing to look for is 'smudged' writing on them

Dont you hate the modern world, fraud is rife in so many areas - though to be fair, humans have been faking stuff forever…just that some countries have taken it to new levels - looking at you, China!

I have just ordered NGK B8ES plugs [non-resistor] for my T150 from Procycles a major Sydney dealer, so I will look hard at them.

For the Airone, I had to order the NGK C7E non-resistor plug through Repco, with courier cost it was a very expensive plug, about $30 IIRC!
