If i try to use Vimu as external player in Jellyfin-Android, with the "Send Path" option, i only get Kodi/VLC as select-able external player.

It seems Vimu did not register all mime types it supports, so i don't get it in the list. I can see that smb indeed works fine in Vimu, so adding the extra mime types would be great.

Look at "void startExternalActivity()" in the Jellyfin code to see how the external player gets started.

thanks

As SMB is not a common protocol in Android, Vimu do not register it (same as nfs). Usually, external file managers try to proxy over their own smb implementation.
We recommend to use Vimu’s own file manager for best smb performance.

Sure, but Vimo compared to Jellyfin or any other full blown media center is not really a option. Its nice to test stuff/speed, but i only want Vimo as a better external player Jellyfin alternative.

Please consider adding the "smb://" mime, Vimo works great as external player for Jellyfin AndroidTV app, but it will send the same "stream.mkv" to Vimo. So file resume can't work, so if we could use the "Direct Path" option it would send the full smb path to the file and resume would work. I also think this would solve some other issues, since it circumvents some HTTP stream issues, but cant test this really.

Thanks Andy

PS: Is there a way to register Vimo for smb via some other manual/external means? I know this works in Windows/MacOS but no clue on Android?
