GRPC calls over a proxy

In https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/dotnet-docs-samples/issues/247 the user needs to set a proxy for all GRPC calls to our speech API.  Is this possible?

Since 1.1, C-derived languages (which includes C#) can specify the http_proxy environment variable and gRPC will use HTTP's CONNECT to tunnel through the proxy.
