I have been experiencing a problem the last couple days. Anytime I try to yarn install in a project that requires grpc, the install fails. I spent a while trying to diagnose this and eventually found that I could not access the grpc.io website either. So, I logged in to a VPN in a different region other than where I currently am (Colombia).

Lo and behold, it worked!

But it is frustrating. Anytime I build a project, I get weird errors that don't tell me anything about the problem. But then, I remember: "the last time I had unexplained difficulties like this, I had to log in to the vpn". I do that, and all is well.

Is access to grpc blocked in some countries?

Hi Josh, I'm not aware of any restrictions on accessing the site, but will check with our developer. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

We're using cloudflare exactly for the reason not to have any sort of geographic restriction, and hence we don't really have any control over this. The webserver is not ours, it's cloudflare's.
