They should support a straight HTTP/2 proxy though, right?
No. None of the implementations support any sort of proxy, at present, to my knowledge.

Sorry, yes. gRPC implementations don't support any sort of client-side proxy (a.k.a., forward proxy). Server-side proxies (a.k.a., reverse proxies) work like normal.Forward proxies require special support from the clients that we've not written. This is the first time someone outside the team has brought it up. I would expect you're in an enterprise environment or you want to pipe connections over SSH.

Has there been any change to this or is it that there are still no gRPC client implementations that support SOCKS/other proxies?
