The new President's inaugural speech was nothing less than spine- chilling. Or should we say blood curdling?

He promised to send "millions and millions" back to their countries -- this day onwards.

He flagged January 20th 2025 as the Day of Liberation for America.

He renamed Gulf of Mexico as Gulf of America. He promised to take back Panama Canal. (No, in an act of small mercy, he refrained from mentioning Greenland and Canada.)

He emblazoned his motto as "drill, drill and drill!" He is pretty brazen as regards his intentions to devastate earth's ecology and make the planet utterly unlivable for the human species, and so many others. Of course, he doesn't acknowledge that inevitable prospect.

All social policies meant to help the weak would right now be deposited in the trash bin. Only two genders: men and women.

In the realm of foreign relations: America First (America Second and America Last)! Not a word as regards friends and allies.

Evidently, a veritable nightmare awaits us.

Had it been the question of only destruction of America -- which Donald "Grab Them by Their Pussies" Trump is out to push for as is already being done by similarly democratically elected Narendra "Laode Ne Bhojyam" Modi, the solitary one on this planet to have an academic degree in "Entire Political Science" and who also claims to have been directly sent by the Supreme Being to India bypassing the biological route to have His will executed, vis-a-vis India -- we could have simply ignored him or even welcomed his anointment as the POTUS.

But, the problem is that global temperature is continually rising.

We're most likely pretty close to the tipping point. The Arctic ice has already started melting. Once that goes a bit further ahead, the rate will, presumably, uncontrollably accelerate. The global temperature would just spike.

To be sure, the Earth as a planet will still survive. But, the human species will, most likely, gradually get erased, together with so many others -- if not all living beings. And it may happen even over a period of hundred / two hundred years.

Apart from that, the POTUS is also the custodian of the "Football" -- the briefcase that contains the President's nuclear codes.

And not to forget, the global economy today is far more integrated than before. Any rash action on the part of the POTUS may have disastrous impacts worldwide. In September 2008, the abrupt collapse of the highly pedigreed financial firm, Lehmann Brothers, signalling the (overdue?) bursting of the sub-prime loans bubble triggered a global recession. India was pretty much affected. A very deft handling by soon-to-be-elected Barack Obama eventually saved the day -- though not without considerable blood loss. The Chinese cooperation was quite crucial. Had Bush been still in the chair, one can only speculate what would have happened!?
