This shows up what sort of leverage the global community - or rather specific sections of it, can exercise, if it opts to, with the 56" regime.

<<After hashtags calling for the boycott of Indian products began trending on Twitter in Arab countries over alleged inflammatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokespersons Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal, the party cracked a whip against them.

While Nupur Sharma has been suspended from the party “with immediate effect”, Jindal’s primary membership of the party has been cancelled.

The Grand Mufti of Oman along with Twitter handles with a large following have called for the boycott. The tweets also included a scathing attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.>>

Here's the subject comment by the BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma - on the TimesNow show, now disowned by her party and made inaccessible by the hosting TV channel: <https://twitter.com/free_thinker/status/1530474258412937216?t=ZaaMT9Sa-c7Xl3Qywon-0Q&s=19>.

Yes!
Had these regimes shown even a fraction of the current concern for the lives of ordinary Indian Muslims, things probably would have not come to this sorry state.
But, alas...!

Like (so many of the) ordinary Muslims, they also get worked up enough only when religious feeling is hurt, not when ordinary mortals are divested of life and dignity.
Ditto is the case with the ordinary Hindus too. The Yogi government, under the supervision of which India got to earn the unique distinction of being the only country on this planet to have the bodies of its people dying of the pandemic floating in rivers, could nevertheless - on the back of its "80:20" campaign, not only came back to power with a handsome majority but also with a hike in vote-share as compared to the preceding state poll!

However, this episode shows up a soft underbelly of the regime.
That needs be duly factored in, not loftily ignored. Especially when things look too desperate.

What a shame that the Gulf states only opt to react when the prophet is insulted, and not when Muslims are persecuted and killed!
