"Dissent" - being an act of (demonstrative) refusal of "consent", is looked upon as a threat to "democratic" regimes as it goes to subvert the foundational, and legitimising, myth of consent.
Hence, the attempts to crust it by various means including criminalising the "dissenters" as "conspirators".
So, is the current Indian regime just like any other?
