Subject: Northgate bridge: Celebrate the grand opening of the John Lewis Memorial Bridge on Sat., 10/2

Good morning,

On behalf of the Seattle Department of Transportation and Councilmember Debora Juarez, I would like to invite you to the grand opening celebration for the John Lewis Memorial Bridge (
Northgate Ped/Bike Bridge) on Saturday, October 2. We hope you’ll join us to recognize all those who have made this project possible!

Details
Saturday, October 2
10 AM to noon
On the west side of the John Lewis Memorial Bridge, just north of North Seattle College (click here for directions)

Getting there
Walking, biking, or using public transportation is strongly recommended. Sound Transit’s Link light rail begins operating on October 2. You can learn more about Sound Transit’s newest stations by visiting northgatelink.com. Metro routes also serve this location, and you can plan your trip by visiting tripplanner.kingcounty.gov. We’ll also have plenty of bike parking, so try out a route using neighborhood greenways and protected bike lanes. Limited car parking will be available at North Seattle College.

Please
RSVP by replying to this email and let me know if you have any questions about the grand opening event.

Sincerely,

Darrell Bulmer

Communications and Outreach Lead

On behalf of the Northgate Ped/Bike Bridge Project

In answer to Billy King:
According to p. 61 of  the latest Levy Oversignt Committee annual report total project (design; construction; bridge;  approaches, utilities work, street revisions, and remediation at NSC and Barton Woods and at the WSDOT park & ride lot at the east end) ~ $40 Million.
Funds from Seattle, WSDOT, Fed Grant, and Sound Transit
I'm not sure if this includes any of the work along  along 1st Ave NE including its sidewalks/mixed use trail

Lots of advocacy by many on this list helped deliver the majority of funds for the Northgate Bridge project, including:

- about $10M from Sound Transit for the bridge and 1st Ave NE sidewalks/trail:
-$10M from the 2015 state transportation package:
- $15M in Levy to Move Seattle dollars, which relied on amazing volunteer, policy and campaign work by many in the community for its passage

In addition, the community and advocacy support to build momentum and sustain the project through tough times has been amazing. Kudos to all that have had a hand in making it happen.
