Regarding WES credentials evaluation for NSIT Students

Hi All ,

I am passed out from NSIT COE - 06 Batch.  I have a query regarding Credentials evaluation done by WES.

They ask for university issued mark sheets attested by the Registrar/Controller of examination (from university itself.)

I enquired from NSIT regarding issuance of official transcripts from Delhi University , which they say is not possible.

Though NSIT is an autonomous college so transcripts issued from college can be accepted but NSIT is not listed in the list of autonomous colleges in UGC site. This is the only list which WES refer to know if a college is autonomous.

This puts a deadlock in front of me ....Can anybody help to sort this out ... ??

Hi Chitranjan,

I faced a similar issue but I got transcripts issued from the university itself. In fact, NSIT admin gave me a form that I went and submitted to the Delhi University office and got my transcripts issued from there .

However, I am not sure whether the process has changed now, I got this done around end of 2012.

Can you please let me know where did u submit that form ..??

What do we need to tell Admin to get that form .. Is it the same Official Transcripts form ?

Any help would be appreciated ... as I am not in India .. and I am facing a hard time speaking over phone with Admin people ..so more details would be helpful.

You could simply ask them to give you the form to receive the official transcripts from the DU office. That worked for me !

As far as I remember I  submitted the form in the Registrar's office in North Campus.

Digging up this old thread, but when you requested transcripts through DU did you use this form http://uic.du.ac.in/images/19%20%2819.2%29%20Transcript,%20Special%20Certificate,%20Attestation,%20Verification%20of%20Marks%20etc.pdf

Also it seems like WES wants us to include a letter with their reference number in it. Did DU put that letter in the sealed transcripts? Or can I attach that letter separately?

Yes i used the same form and this has already been sorted out .. 

As far as the reference no is concerned , i just wrote it on the envelope which i got from DU and shipped it to WES . 

Got the ECA report 2 months after that.. Hope it helps .

No need to fill separate forms for each semester. Since there is not much space to specify all the subject's Name , code etc ..so leave it blank . 

Once you go there (North campus or south campus) for form submission ..you can ask them. In my case , they said no need to write name of all papers .. Just do what they ask you to do.

Hi,

 I am a former student of M.Tech from NSIT. My transcripts got rejected  by WES recently. Though the transcripts were in a sealed envelope issued by NSIT, the reason for rejection was mentioned as " The Document was not received directly from the Academic Institution as required by WES". 

Few questions : 

1)  So, I am assuming that the transcripts need to be issued by DU directly instead of NSIT.  Can any one please confirm. 

Though I have already posted my query to WES , I am yet to hear from them. 

2) For transcripts from DU, which campus should we go to - North or South? 

3) I already have an additional copy of transcript ( sealed by NSIT). Do I need to show/submit  that transcript to DU, which they will attest and re-seal ?   

OR  

4) DU will issue a new set of transcript on the basis of the photo copies of my mark sheets/degree which I submit to them ?

Hi Jaya,

I faced a similar issue recently. Here's the answer to your questions:

1. Yes, the transcripts need to be verified by DU directly

2. Go to North campus - academic block, near the school of open learning

3 & 4. There might be more than one way to get this done, but here's what I did: I submitted photocopies of my mark sheets for each semester + my degree and got them attested by DU. This comes out as an expensive option though - each attestation is 500/-

Thank you so much for your response. 

So, NSIT comes under North campus, is it? Can we not get it done from South Campus? Any idea? The reason why I am asking is because I do not stay in Delhi. I will have to ask my father and he resides in Faridabad and it is closer to South campus. 

In your case, after attesting each sem marksheet + degree; DU must have put all the attested documents in a sealed and stamped envelope with institution address mentioned clearly on it.

Yes, they seal all mark sheets in one envelope and degree in another (for some strange reason, they can't give you one combined envelope) and give it to you. The address isn't there though but I'm not certain about this. You can check with them directly.

Hi I know this post is quite old also have seen that you have got the ECA report. Congrats... I am also from Delhi University, South Campus. While filling WES I don't see DU or University of Delhi under autonomous colege list. Did WES still accepted your application?

Please share your inputs on the same.

Delhi university or University of Delhi is a recognised institute by WES. 

Since it is an university, it may not be listed under list of autonomous colleges. 

I am from NSIT which is affiliated to DU. My transcripts from DU got approved by WES.

I want to ask whether a WES is mandatory for schools like Columbia?. I have talked to many seniors who said that they didn't go for it. Some of them said that they used the free WES iGPA converter (https://applications.wes.org/igpa-calculator/) which is confusing since it takes "marks" as input (not grades). Any idea on the scale conversion there? On inquiring from Columbia, I got a boilerplate response as follows:

It is not clear whether they are mandating or recommending the use of WES evaluation. Furthermore, they have stopped replying anymore. Would be very grateful to anyone giving leads on this.

For Fall 16 MS CS, I wrote to the program coordinator at Columbia pointing out that the cost of WES Evaluation was more than the application fee for the program.

I offered to get the WES Evaluation if I got an admit; they agreed.

I know that this works since I did get an admit for the program.

PS: I mentioned the program and application cycle since departments may change rules across application cycles. YMMV.

I am currently in the process of getting my evaluations started from WES and I need to get my transcripts from DCE.
I have a couple of questions

1. Since I need transcripts from DU, Do I need to have a copy of the Syllabus
    1.1 If Yes, where can I get this from - I graduated in 2003 & I am sure the syllabus has changed much since then.

2. Would DU allow me to collect the transcripts or will they be mailed to my mailing address

    2.1 If they allow me to collect it- will they be sealed in an envelope or not ?
    2.2 If I let them mail it to my mailing address, then should I put the complete envelope in a bigger Fedex envelope and mail it to WES ?

Hi everyone

I did a mistake of sending the transcripts to WES attested by NSIT. Got a reply "The envelope in which the document was received was NOT sealed by the appropriate authority as required by WES." 

Now I will go to DU North Campus to get them attested, but I have few questions:

Q1-Do we have to send all the individual semester mark sheets along with the consolidated mark sheet or just consolidated mark sheet is fine? 
Q2-Can we collect the transcripts in person or it has to be delivered to our address? 

Q3-How much time will they take to issue and attest the transcripts?

I passed out from NSIT in 2008, Currently going through the process of getting documents for WES evaluation. I would say things aren't as smooth as it seems.
These people sitting on other side of student dealing window behave like self proclaimed demigods and they will never tell you what all documents they need in one go, they want you to keep showing up at their window. Below are the points which are not mentioned anywhere but will come as a surprise when you submit your documents at North campus window.
1. You should have your consolidated marksheet. (Mark your electives in it). In case you don't have it get it from NSIT.
2. You need to request transcript via an "ONLINE" form on the website http://exam.du.ac.in/transcript.html or http://www.du.ac.in/du/uploads/Forms/students_related_forms/27032014_Transcript.pdf
3. The fees need to be filled via an "ONLINE" portal http://misconlinefee.du.ac.in/  Keep a copy of this fees receipt.
4. The guy on the window don't seems to be happy seeing someone applying for foreign country. So he pulled out another secret weapon from armoury. WES form should be attested by NSIT.

Once you submit your transcript request form along with fees receipt and consolidated mark-sheet, degree and mark-sheets. they will ask you to wait for 15 days, to collect the transcript.

I am done with step 1 to 3, currently in process of step 4 not sure how many more hiccups still to come. But one thing is for sure public (alumni) dealing will never improve with Delhi university, whether they go ONLINE or whatever but they will always be OFFMINDS, asking illogical documents, making people wait. These public dealing people at university are real sadist, they enjoy not giving complete information in one go and make student suffer. So be ready for surprises.

I recently got the transcripts in Jan 2018 from DU Noth campus and had to do exactly as mentioned in steps 1-3, but luckily didn't have to go through step no. 4. Even though I was also asked the same question - why go outside when you're settled here (reminded me of those nosy aunties who are found in every neighborhood). Seems like they keep on changing the rules.

1. Should I give them my copy of provisional certificate obtained from NSIT as I haven't received my degree? And what all should I include... 8 mark sheets and provisional only?

2. WES has a change in policy where it asks that we need to send transcripts from the university itself. Does DU offer that facility?

In addition to what pranshu has mentioned ( which is totally correct)

We would still be part of DU , because our degrees were still issued by FoT. Unless they are merging FoT with nsut ( which I don't think is the case) , all Wes related inquiries will be handled by DU / FoT. 

I have sent my docs directly from FoT without directly sending anything myself. Although you do have to share reference numbers but that's normal procedure , I believe.

A related question, if at all the transcripts from NSIT (and not DU) are enough:
NSIT doesn't seal the envelopes with an official stamp/seal. They just close the envelope with sellotape with the signature of the registrar on the back side, whereas WES documentation seems to be pretty strict that a seal of the institute and the signature of registrar are mandatory. Wondering if anyone was able to get an official seal on the transcripts from NSIT?

Heads up, I got the transcripts from DU and sent them myself. And now I have an email from WES stating that they have sent a verification request to DU and need their written response. Might have been better to just ask DU to directly send them. Sigh.

Since NSIT is NSUT now, is WES still accepting transcripts from DU or we need to get them from NSUT? Did you get a verification request from WES even after posting the transcripts as recommend from DU Post office or was it due to posting from some other place?

For whether we need the transcripts from DU or NSUT, if the degree is from DU then transcripts should be from DU. And it's unclear why I got the verification request. I have friends who mailed their transcripts from their personal address, similar to me, and they didn't get a verification request (they are from IIT though). So I guess the best would be to send it through the DU post office in case it makes a difference, it definitely won't hurt.

Many people that I know have done this and haven't received any verification request. Posting through India post, you can mention the sender's address as DU's. One of my friends sent  NSIT transcripts using India post and sender's address as NSIT and they got accepted. But that was for US WES. Not sure if that's the same for Canda WES.

There were some new guidelines that were issued by WES a while back and as per them, there is a strict no regarding posting the docs themselves. Infact they would reject it if it comes from anyone other than the univerisity. This is a relatively recent update but it's been several months since this happened. 

So even if something else may have worked for someone, it's not a good idea because you may have to repeat your efforts. This is my opinion

Hi ,

I have to start the process to get my transcripts...m from nsit 2007 batch. I need it for canada wes.. i have read online that i can send my request application and other required docs to DU  north campus by post. Once i get it to me by post I will go to Du campus once to post to wes.. it will save my one trip to Du.. does anyone have any suggestions? Or should i go personally to submit my application to DU.. plz suggest

Just sharing my recent experience to get the transcripts. I mailed the documents and after 3 weeks I checked with them and they just said that they did not receive  any mail. If you want to take chance go ahead but going directly will save the time.

Hi All,

I have got the Transcripts from DU in a sealed envelope. I am planning to go to DU on weekend to post from there. Is there anything else I have to send other than Transcript envelop with my WES Reference number ? I can see a form on WES site Academic Record request form. Can anyone confirm if this form was required to be sent to DU ? 

Any lead would be much appreciated.

 

I do know that I have to send my Degree print out in another envelop from my place.

Hey.. last month i sent all documents via speed post and in a monthly i got the transcripts on my address. Later i went university to send to wes from university post office.. it saved my 1 visit to university... syllabus is on the back side of a consolidated marksheet which u must have got at the time of last day of college

Yes .. u need to post from university campus.. they matches by postal address... i did it 3 month back and got wes evaluation report last month.

I am from 2007 batch and need to request transcripts from DU. Do they need any consolidated statement of marks document also other than the individual each semester marksheets?

I am told by a third party service that a consolidated marksheet is also required for transcripts from DU?

This document is not mentioned on DU site so it confused me. DU site has a link for an excel format to add subjects and credits ourselves but this is not mentioned at all.

Well since the process is so robust(sarcasm), we have to also give a list of all subjects. Icing on the cake is that i dont think they even look at this because i forgot my elective and wrote an incorrect one but the transcript came with correct subject. 

Also, they looked at subjects thoroughly but wrote incorrect college name on transcript. Don’t worry whole process is a cakewalk and  deliberately designed to increase patience and acceptance in us which comes in handy in long run. Transcript from other university for master’s pn the other hand was just an email and whole automated which made me feel entitled and is not good on a long run

I have just started applying for Canadian Express Entry. What is the exact process for getting transcripts verified by WES?

I only got my semester mark sheets and degree certificate.

1. Do I first need to get my consolidated mark sheet from NSIT? How much time does the admin take for that?

2. What all documents apart from sem mark sheets and degree, do I require while applying for transcripts?

3. Under new guidelines, does DU provide any facility to post to WES on our behalf?

Hi I have transcripts issued by DU in sealed envelope already. I have initiated WES document-by-document verification.

1. Do I need to include consolidated marksheet also?

2. Do I need to mail from DU Post office or form NSUT Post office myself?
