Open a developers widow and go to the directory where GQRX is and start it with the command -

gqrx.exe -r

List the output - it likely has clues as to what is happening.

Thanks for your thinking with me. Before I try to do what you are saying in your messages have I this question.
I have a logfile found  and I can sand it to you (trying) The end sais there is probably a bug in the program.
Is that true?
A freind of mine, also working with Pentium has the same problem GQRX  does not even start. So itl ooks like.
I hope you can answer me

Hi
I dont think there is a bug in the program, if there was I wouldn't be able to run it on 3 different machines all running LM 21.2 , 2 have pentium cpus and the other has amd.
did notice the first time I went to start it , it didnt and as I had compiled from source code I checked what had happened when I ran " make install"
I noticed the file in the gqrx.git directory
dk.gqrx.gqrx.desktop  and ran that file, gqrx started and runs without problems , even when started from CLI.

IF you are trying to run pre compiled binaries, you maybe be running in to incompatible libs
It is very simple to build , and has the advantage if you have a missing dependency it will tell you
I build the .debs for MSHV and I know that trying to provide binaries that run on everything is near impossible, even those using the APT package management.

Morning.

I've just tried  Gqrx-2.16-x86_64.AppImage  from the Github site, on LMDE 5 (Debian 11 based) 64 bit.

uname -a
Linux hp-compaq-sfdt 5.10.0-24-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.10.179-5 (2023-08-08) x86_64 GNU/Linux

It runs, but refuses to use a perfectly valid and known working FunCube Dongle Pro (the original non '+' type.)
A device scan finds it, but the software says it "can't be found", when selected and "OK" hit..

$ ./Gqrx-2.16-x86_64.AppImage
linux; GNU C++ version 7.3.0; Boost_106501; UHD_003.010.003.000-0-unknown

gr-osmosdr 0.2.0.0 (0.2.0) gnuradio 3.8.2.0
built-in source types: file fcd rtl rtl_tcp uhd hackrf bladerf rfspace airspy airspyhf soapy redpitaya freesrp
Resampling audio 96000 -> 48000
BandPlanFile is /home/dave/.config/gqrx/bandplan.csv
BookmarksFile is /home/dave/.config/gqrx/bookmarks.csv
gr-osmosdr 0.2.0.0 (0.2.0) gnuradio 3.8.2.0
built-in source types: file fcd rtl rtl_tcp uhd hackrf bladerf rfspace airspy airspyhf soapy redpitaya freesrp
Using FUNcube Dongle V1.0 (hw:3)
gr-osmosdr 0.2.0.0 (0.2.0) gnuradio 3.8.2.0
built-in source types: file fcd rtl rtl_tcp uhd hackrf bladerf rfspace airspy airspyhf soapy redpitaya freesrp

Then hangs, with the "Failed to set input device" box showing, with "FunCubeDongle V1.0 not found." and "Please select another device" and the OK button.

The "Input controls" dialogue is also shown, with 0.0 MHz for LNB LO (no LNB present, yet.)
Also Freq. correction set to 0.0 ppm, all other fields blank.

If I click on the above "OK button", then I get the "Configure I/O devices" dialogue, where:-
"FUNcube Dongle V1.0" is shown in the found devices list.
(And in the console screen above when started from a command line.)

(Note different capitalisation and spacing between the two dialogues!  Is that significant?)

If I select OK, and OK again in the not found dialogue, then GQRX starts, but no signals, noise or other traces in the spectrum or waterfall.

I've tried other USB ports, erasing the config files (and folder) and starting again, etc, but still no joy.

This is the first attempt to use GQRX on this machine, I have used it (an earlier version) "A Lot" in the past on the same hardware, but with Mint19.3 (64 bit) as the OS, where it worked really well indeed.

The intention here, is a QO100 RX of course.   But not great if I cant get GQRX working!...

Any hint's advice etc welcome.

Welle.io runs well on the current LMDE system, using a wideband RTL dongle, happily demodulating local DAB broadcasts etc, with sensible CPU usage.

According to the gr-osmosdr website, gr-osmosdr does not support the FunCubeDongle. The osmosdr site says to use gr-fcdproplus. The gr-fcdproplus site says to use gr-funcube.

With soapySDR, the FunCubeDongle is supported with soapyFCDPP as another option.
