Hello,

I just installed Manjaro Linux, Hakoila 17.1.12 on my PC. After the fresh install I loaded Gqrx v2.11.5 using the Manjaro Package Manager.

I have my Airspy HF+ plugged into a USB2 port. When I start Gqrx, the initial configuration window pops up and asks me to select a device. My Airspy HF+ doesn't appear in the list. When I run Gqrx from the terminal window I get the following error:

[pea@Bruce ~]$ gqrx
qt5ct: using qt5ct plugin
qt5ct: D-Bus global menu: no
gr-osmosdr 0.1.4 (0.1.4) gnuradio 3.7.13.4
built-in source types: file fcd rtl rtl_tcp uhd hackrf bladerf rfspace airspy
Resampling audio 96000 -> 48000

[INFO] [UHD] linux; GNU C++ version 8.2.0; Boost_106700; UHD_3.13.0.1-0-unknown

built-in source types: file fcd rtl rtl_tcp uhd hackrf bladerf rfspace airspy

FATAL: No supported devices found to pick from.

Trying to fill up 1 missing channel(s) with null source(s).
This is being done to prevent the application from crashing
due to gnuradio bug #528.

Next I deleted the default.conf file I found in ~/config/Gqrx and restarted Gqrx in the terminal using the command; Gqrx -r to rebuild the config file. When the Gqrx configuration window popped up I selected 'Other' as a device and entered AirspyHF as the device string, let Gqrx start up, then I closed Gqrx and restarted. Still no Airspy HF+ listed as a device.

Finally I ran airspy_info from the terminal and got this error:

[pea@Bruce ~]$ airspy_info
airspy_lib_version: 1.0.9
airspy_open() board 1 failed: AIRSPY_ERROR_NOT_FOUND (-5)

I'm not sure where to look or how to fix this problem. Can someone hopefully give me a pointer about where I might start??

Thank you for your help,
Bruce

What's your output from dmesg when you plug in the AirSpy?

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your note. Here is the dmesg output when I unplugged the Airspy HF+ and plugged it into another USB port:

[ 6307.890929] usb 2-3: USB disconnect, device number 4
[ 6311.315450] usb 2-6: new high-speed USB device number 5 using ehci-pci

Thanks,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,

This line:

> gr-osmosdr 0.1.4 (0.1.4) gnuradio 3.7.13.4
> built-in source types: file fcd rtl rtl_tcp uhd hackrf bladerf rfspace
> airspy

mean that Airspy HF+ support is not available on your platform.

You can try the "generic 64 bit binary" available here:
http://gqrx.dk/download

Note that you will have to copy the udev rule to /etc/udev/rules.d/

Hi Alex,

Thank you for your note.

I tried using the generic version of Gqrx and moved all the files into the rules.d directory as you suggested. No luck. I worked on getting Gqrx to see the Airspy HF+ for a couple more hours and still had no luck. I don't know what the problem is.

But I did get the problem solved... I switched to Linux Mint and Gqrx worked great with my Airspy HF+ on the first try. Linux Mint is a good distro but I was looking forward to getting to know Manjaro Linux. Oh well... gotta go with what works for now!!  :)

Thanks for making a great program, your efforts are much appreciated!

Best wishes,
Bruce
