As part of requesting the maze removal on the Kercher trail in Goshen, one step was to count traffic. Two of us counted traffic for four hours. This a trail intersection of Winona and Kercher; with the Kercher trail of course parallel to Kercher road. the Attached was the results.
To summarize: 40 passes were counted. 7 of these were affected by the maze.
1, #7 bicyclist from Winona southbound, stayed on Kercher until crossing the tracks to return to Kercher trail east bound.
2. #15 bicyclist from Kercher trail westbound walked a bike uncomfortably through maze. Continued walking across Kercher to mount bike back on the Winona trail northbound.
3. #16 bicyclist from Kercher trail westbound, dismounted inside of first maze after not being able to navigate it. Walked across tracks, continued walking onto road facing traffic to avoid second maze. Mounted bike and rode north onto Winona.
4, #18 One child did ride through maze with difficulty. From Winona nouthbound, turned east wobbly onto Kercher trail, took feet off the peddles, and looking at obstacles not looking for trains
5. #25 Bicyclist from Kercher road westbound. Stayed on road and avoided maze, turned south onto Winona.
6. #34 Pedestrian from Kercher trail westbound, successfully walked through both mazes.
7. #40 bicyclist on Kercher trail eastbound, left trail to ride around both mazes on road then returned to Kercher trail east.
I will next work on an official request with city. Enjoy reading the attached counts.
