Poirot One font renders as Comic Sans

As per the title Poirot One font is rendering as Comic Sans. Someone has a sense of humour.

Was there ever a solution to this? 

I am having the same problem with a new purchased wp theme.  I can see the font is Poiret One when I inspect the element but all the browsers render my slider text as Comic Sans :(

No, because I couldn't reproduce it. Could you provide the site to test with?
