Timeline chart and Gantt chart setSelection

How can I set the selection from the timeline and gantt chart?

I have tried using:

chart.setSelection([{row: 1, column: null}]);

chart.setSelection([{row: 1}]);

which work for tables but can't get a result with the time and gantt charts.
Am I doing something wrong, is there another function that I should call?
