sankey getChartLayoutInterface()

Is this function supported with sankey diagrams?
I am using the code in the  documentation for 'positioning overlays relative to data' and am getting an error: this.getChartLayoutInterface is not a function. 

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, only the core charts support getChartLayoutInterface().

Okay, is there any alternate way to achieve overlays that position relative to data with a sankey?

Unfortunately, we don't have any access to layout data for Sankey.
