Hi,

I tried to understand the Google API chart concept and started with the help of some guru's on this forum. but have couple of questions.

1. Can i use this Google API chart call in my website as my website will be used by my customers.
2. As this API is on load call [every time the script will be loaded from Google and if my server doesn't have internet this will not work. Though i will have internet on my server, if there is a latency issue from Google server, the chart will not be loaded  if the script takes time to serve as this is API call. ]

How can i come over this situation?

3. will  Google makes this as pay service? currently this is opensource.

please guide me to start using this wonderful API.

Hi,

1. You can absolutely use the Google Chart API on your website.
2. That doesn't sound quite right. If your server does not have internet, it won't be able to serve the page with the charts in the first place. If it is able to serve the HTML page with the chart, then there will be no issue, as it is the browser that requests charts from the Google servers, not your server. You are correct, though, that if Google is having connection issues, then charts won't load. Unfortunately, there is no way to overcome that at this point. We are working on downloadable versions of Google Charts, but don't have any estimates yet for when this will be ready.
3. No. Using charts is free, and is likely to stay that way. If, at any point in the future, we do decide that we want to charge for use of this library, we will make the previous non-paid version available to download. This library is not open source, however. It is free to use, including for commercial purposes, but it is not open source.

Please let us know if you have any more questions or if I didn't fully answer one of your existing ones.

Hi Sergey,

Wonderful and thanks a lot for clearing my queries. As far as i know, this is the best free chart and more useful and elegant. Kudos to Google. I love if we have
downloadable version and it's a great move that Google is working on downloadable version.

Once again thanks a lot for your answer.

Hi!

Tell me if i am wrong, but i have copied, the text, what google has answered for the google chart request, and save as a .js file.
And this file can be served from my server, doesn't matter whatever is going on with google. So also if you are working on a LAN aplication, you can still use google API.

Hi MaCsaba,

While, you can indeed do that, it is technically against our Terms of Service. You should also be aware that if you do that, your versions of charts won't automatically get updated, so you won't get any new features or bugfixes unless you periodically redownload the file. Since it is technically against our Terms of Service, we also won't help with any issues related to hosting Google Charts yourself.

As I mentioned before, downloading the charts script and serving it yourself is against our Terms of Service. If you do this, you will not receive updates, new features, or bugfixes automatically. Not to mention that you will not receive support if your issue is specific to your hosting the library.

We strongly recommend that you continue referring to the charts script dynamically. Doing anything else is against our Terms of Service.

Sure and thanks for letting me know. Since this is dynamic library and can i assume these scripts always be rendered from google without any issue as i will be using this on my consumer portal. So i will expect not to see the script download delay/exception. your opinion please

Hi, I'm having a hard time understanding what you're asking here, but I'll try to answer to the best of my ability.

There would be a delay/lag between any server, including if you hosted the library yourself. In fact, Google's servers are likely to respond faster than yours are. I can't guarantee any sort of uptime beyond what is already written in our Terms of Service, since exceptions happen.

The same question am posting again after 9 months. Has google  announced officially to download the script files which is required for charting to be included in the local project and start make use of it. As far as i know, we need to call the library on the fly which will hit google server everytime.

We have no plans to do so, sorry. If we did that, it would render us unable to make improvements and fix bugs.
