Sankey Node Vertical Spacing

My issue stems with a diagram where everything originates from one node and distributes to many (10).  However, the second group of nodes overlap each other vertically.  What is the explanation for this?  What can I do to prevent it?

I would guess this looks like a bug, since there appears to be room enough for all the nodes.  But as a workaround, have you tried adding to the height?
