Google Maps JavaScript API has been loaded directly without a callback

I'm seeing this message on the console: "Google Maps JavaScript API has been loaded directly without a callback. This is not supported and can lead to race conditions and suboptimal performance. For supported loading patterns please see https://goo.gle/js-api-loading".

But I am using a callback. I'm using the exact same pattern as on this Google example page:


And that page has the exact same console error.

I'm confused. Is this a bug in the API?

This could be a bug in how Google Charts uses the Google Maps API.  We'll have to look into it.   This could explain the occasional flaky test we are seeing.

If your geochart is otherwise working fine, then you may not need to be too concerned about this message.

My geocharts work perfectly so I'm going to assume this is a bug in the API. I tried various ways to make the message go away but it doesn't seem to be possible at the moment. It does need looking at, I think. Many thanks.
