GSoC 2026: What We Know So Far

During the past weeks we've been receiving numerous emails from people interested in participating in the next GSoC program. We truly appreciate your enthusiasm and interest in our program however, we have not yet announced details for a 2026 program, as the 2025 program is under the coding period and some small projects are currently wrapping up.

In the meantime, we encourage you to visit our main site at g.co/gsoc and review the timeline for comprehensive information about the program. You may also find it helpful to read the FAQ, Contributor Guide, and Program Rules, or watch short videos to learn more.

Given some minor "mistakes" or generalities in messages we've received, I'd guess someone(s) had the utterly brilliant idea of using AI to just machine gun "interest" in I suspect many (all?) projects.

Here's the magic secret that will get a student accepted into almost any org for GSoC: 

Look at the org's github bugs or feature requests, solve or implement one as an independent outside volunteer. You will almost certainly be a very top contender in the next cycle.
