Log line length limit

This page says  "An application log line must not exceed 8K bytes"

However, this Quotas and Limits page  says "Size of a log entry... 100 KB"

Which is correct?

I just ran a test and the limit is definitely 100KB. So why the discrepancy?  Note that Flex Env requires the use of  the logs to track threads, GC, and memory  usage inside the JVM, since there is no per-instance access, so a large line limit is essential.

Hey Joshua,

This is a restriction for a LogLine in a RequestLog for App Engine Flex, not Stackdriver Logging, which limits entries to 100Kb.  +Steren with App Engine team since I'm not sure if/why they have stricter requirements in App Engine Flex.

Hi Joshua,

We checked with some of the GAE developers and I believe this is an incorrect doc that was held over from the legacy "managed VM" version of Flex. GAE Standard has an 8 KB limit on log lines, and the old "managed VM" Flex did, but no such limit exists in the current version of Flex, only the 100 KB limit imposed by Stackdriver Logging. I'll ask our writers to update the docs. Thanks for reporting the issue, and for testing things out!
