Request for uuid-ossp.

This is a vital one for us.

Patrick

Thank you for feedback, it will help us prioritize.

As a possible workaround we currently support pgcrypto. It provides `gen_random_uuid` function which returns version 4 uuid.

I'd argue that even if there is the pgcrypto fallback, some very well known ORMs such as Doctrine use this method by default for UUID, it'd be nice to have this extension.

I can confirm that we've added uuid-ossp in the next release of Postgres - which should happen in under a month.

When the rollout is complete, the release notes will be updated:

You can also keep an eye on the pg_available_extensions table.

Unfortunately we don't have a way for our customers to track updates yet, so asking in this list is the best interface we have right now. :(

All instances set to 'early' update cycle should have already gotten new release. Any freshly created instance should also have this. Rest of the instances will be slowly updated in upcoming weeks with respect to their maintenance windows.
If you have an 'early' instance feel free to try uuid-ossp out and please let us know if you see any problems.

Thanks!
