My issue is almost identical to https://groups.google.com/u/1/g/google-cloud-dev/c/49yA4oOeSEs except that the workaround they found is not suitable in our case as we very much intend to use this app with our consumers.  I chose not to reply to that issue to prevent them getting spammed with responses (sorry if that is not the way I should have done it).

I'm trying to setup an OAuth Consent screen with our company name ("Ailo") as the App name, and getting the following error:

An error saving your app has occurred

In the dev tools, I can see the API request failing with:

{"error":{"code":7,"message":"The request has been classified as abusive and was not allowed to proceed.","details":[{"@type":"type.googleapis.com/google.rpc.ErrorInfo","reason":"ABUSE_CHECK_FAILURE","domain":"clientauthconfig.googleapis.com"}]}}

There are no issues if I change the name to "Ailo-PROD", which is how I have setup our non-production environments (e.g. Ailo-DEV), but obviously I would like our production environment to look a bit more professional than that.

For reference, I am setting this up within our Google Workspaces org.

Hello,

The most possible scenario is that Google has set some type of restriction for the word “Ailo” and can’t be used by external users. This can be due to this word being used by Google internally among other possible factors. Another possible scenario is that it’s simply a bug on our end which is why I recommend you to try contacting Google Workspace support or Google Cloud Platform support if you still want to use the word “Ailo” and want a definite answer about the reason you are not able to.

Thanks David,

I'm struggling to think that "Ailo" is used internally by Google, but stranger things have happened.  I've already raised a ticket in their issue tracker but haven't heard anything back yet.  I've also tried to use the Google Cloud Platform support but find it leads me in infuriating circles without being able to actually get any support (or at least not without paying for a higher level of support).

Google previously had a product called Allo, which is visually similar to Ailo. It might be that this similarity is enough to denylist the name, but I don't have any details to back that up.

Thanks Chris, that's a really good point.  I've passed that info on in the support ticket.
