Hellow everyone!

Does anyone know if there was any change in Google policies that avoid Web Apps written in Google Script not open in Android web browser?

I've just compiled a new app, but when I try to launch it in Android Google Chrome it is displayed a message saying that the App could not be found and it asks to confirm the url address. That's very weird...

Old apps (created more than one year ago)  that I created are working fine in Android.

I would like to hear if you have faced this issue as well and how you fixed.

Thanks a lot,
Fernando

Hello Everyone,

Investigating further, I could open the app in an older Android version than the one that I have in my cell phone.
Anyway, it is still very strange that most recent version of Android is not working.

Still investigating...
Thanks!
Fernando

I found out that if I publish the same App Script using my consumer account (@gmail.com), I can use the created WebApp in my cell phone, but when I publish using my business account it simply doesn't open. It says: "file not found".
I tried google support but it was useless. :-(

I already my admin console to see if there would be some option not correctly activated, but it seem to be everything correct.
I hope that this is a temporary error...I don't have any other clue to  understand what is happening.

If somebody is facing this error know how to fix, please let me know!

Take a look at the URL when being opened from different accounts; experiment with deploying the web app with different access permissions (anyone, anyone even anonymous); try with and without V8 enabled. Also take a look in the issue tracker as there are issues relating to all the above, especially multiple accounts.

Hi Robert!

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried all of them, but unfortunately none of them worked. I deactivated V8 and compiled with different permissions (anyone, anyone even anonymous), but unfortunately without success.
What is intriguing myself is that if open the  WebApp in a cell phone running Android 4.1 or 5.1 it works, but if I open on Android 7.0 it doesn't work. I am using Google Chrome build 86.0.4240 in these 03 devices. I a friend of mine tested it usind Android 6 and it didn't work  too.

If you click on this WebApp link compiled using my Google for Education domain it ** only works on a Desktop Web Browser **: https://script.google.com/macros/s/AKfycbzd4VypWWFH9edT4kubdcuvwgyFIHBVWLeYlUDSW1fW0Ca1SNo/exec

But if you click on this other link compiled using my @gmail.com account it works on  **Desktop or Android browser **: https://script.google.com/macros/s/AKfycbxmRENJcdCfLnGXD2PP_2ruqTCL8-XnPbNhp7DewQ/exec

I couldn't find in Google issue tracker some issue equal to mine, I mean, related to Android Browsers, but I found some issues related to the publishing permission ( everyone, even anonymous) that is not opening  the WebApp on a desktop.

My nightmare is that this WebApp and others that I am writing will have to go live in two weeks and I don't know a solution for that. I am not sure if publishing the WebApp using my gmail.com account will be an alternative. Crazy!!!

Thanks again for your time and if you have other thoughts that could help in some solution for this error, please let me know.

If you are not gaining access to users' data, it shouldn't matter much which account publishes the webapp, no?
I mean, if the code only lets the user access their own data, or data they have access to, and your webapp is just a means to do so, it should be fine.

But if your Gmail account imports and stores user data of others then yes, that could be a problem for some organisations, as the agreement between Google and Gmail vs Workspace is different.

Hi Kim,

You analysis makes sense. I am considering this aspect of the data as I am  facing this issue with Google Education domain for Android browsers...only some versions of Android...unbelievable!!

Cheers,
Fernando

I have not checked this, but as a suggestion, have you checked the Admin console settings for your group? I am wondering if perhaps Google is adding group permissions for Webapps. To allow some to be published internally with the domain users only versus public webapps.

Hi Fernando,

Have you tried the url in incognito mode on Android 7.0 where you are having the problem?  Does it work under incognito? When you launch URL, does it execute and append 'u/1/s' after https://script.google.com/macros

I experienced a very odd situation recently with a published script where users would receive the "page not found" error ONLY when logged into both a G-suite (paid) and a personal gmail account.  If I was logged into one account, did not have the problem. If I signed out of business (G-suite) account, problem resolved.  After some research (see link below), I concluded that the issue was that I published the script originally while logged in concurrently in both accounts.  I copied/shared script with the G-suite account and then published again while only logged into that account.  Problem appears resolved now.

Good luck!
Peter

Hello Peter!

Thanks a lot for your suggestion! It really helped me. After read the article you pointed it out in Stackoverflow, I learnt that if I place the name of my domain in the middle of the URL it works in my cell phone:

https://script.google.com/a/macros/<my domain here>/s/AKfycbz9mmSvePxDqQIJs7Lo8KjTNpEogcFWSfDAK4JgzT8MtupVJbs/exec

I never had to do this before. Every time that I published a new Web App, all I had to do was to get the URL provided in the Publish As Web window and then share with my users.
Anyway, I am happy that it worked!!

Cheers,
Fernando
